Dear Senator DeMint,
I am writing to you to ask you to keep the Rural Housing Program strong. I am Music Minister at a local church and my wife is an elementary school teacher at a local school. We just recently purchased a new home made possible from the Rural Housing Program. We are two hard-working people that do no make a lot of money, but we have always worked hard and paid our debts. I am a strong supporter of the Rural program because I believe it can help other families who are in the same situation. With children in school, iit is often difficult to save money-especially enough to buy a new home. But with this program, people who have strong credit and fit the stringent criteria are able to do what otherwise might not be possible. Unlike a handout, this program rewards those who pay their bills, yet still puts the burden of responsibility on their shoulders to pay off the loan. The economy benefits as well. Due to our recent purchase, we have poured our money back into the economy with purchases of furniture, decorations, landscaping and yard materials, to name a few. The broker who helped our dream come true ( Gary Heinecke and MGM Financial) has informed me that he has several other people ready to purchase a new home that have met the requirements, yet there is no funding available. How tragic to me to see this happening. I am asking you to help pass legislation that would fund this program and keep our economy strong by keeping the cash flowing. We need your strong leadership in these tough economic times. Thanks for all you have done and are doing to help keep us strong, Senator. Best of all is hoped for you and your family.
Sincerely,
Chuck Auten
